Bringing joy to the holiday season

 Nineteen percent of black families in America live in poverty.  Seventeen percent of Hispanics.  Eight percent of white families.  The national unemployment rates for minority families is twice that of white families.  Less than 30% of families of color are home owners.  According tot Business Insider Magazine in an article written on August 11, 2020, explains how decades of welfare policies has lifted up white middle class.   Even the Bible says the poor you will have with you always.  

Many organizations through out the country have programs help families in various ways.  With budgeting and finance.  Job search.  Child care.  Housing.  During the holiday season, organizations take the opportunity work with families.  At Wishes and Dreams we will work directly with the families.  With a personal touch, our goal is to give the selected families the joy of the holiday season in a special way.

As the season approaches, many organizations though out the community have families on their list that need help over the holiday season.  These families are already vetted.  They are working towards a better future.  

As early as mid September, we will begin to work with these agencies and community partners to identify the families.   We will be communicate through emails to supporters, civic and community leaders and organizations, minority chambers of commerce and other community partners. Also, across social media platforms.

Upon awarded, we will ask the following questions for each individual in each family to find out their interest and sizes.

1. Correct spelling of name and age

2. Shoe size

3. Pant size

4. Shirt size

5. Favorite Color

6. Favorite sport, sports team, or athlete

7. Favorite books

8. Favorite class in school

9. Favorite genre of music or artist

10. Any other special interest or hobby

"Black Santa" will deliver gifts the week before Christmas.  We will make arrangements to meet the parents at home or in another location in  case they want "Santa" to deliver on Christmas morning.
